Hello Illinois Weightlifting Community,
The IL WSO Board is inviting local clubs to submit bids to host the 2027 Illinois State WSO Championship. This meet is the highlight of our weightlifting calendar, bringing together athletes, coaches, and fans from across the region, and it succeeds because of the dedication and support of our Illinois weightlifting community.
Each year, the IL WSO Board partners with a local club to host this cornerstone meet. Hosting gives your club a meaningful opportunity to showcase your facility and volunteers, welcome lifters from across Illinois, and increase your organization’s visibility within the state weightlifting community.
To submit a bid for the 2027 Championship, Review the 2027 Illinois WSO Championships Hosting Criteria to understand what’s involved, and email us at illinoisweightlifting@gmail.com by September 20, 2026.
Have an event space suitable for hosting a meet of this size but do not want to take on the responsibility of Meet Director? We can work with you. We are always looking for new spaces to hold this event. If you have or know of a space that may be appropriate, please let us know so we can follow up and discuss the details.
If you have questions about the bid process, please contact any member of the IL WSO Board. Contact details and additional information are available on the Illinois Weightlifting website. We look forward to partnering with the Illinois weightlifting community to make the 2027 Championship a memorable and successful event.

Coming Soon - Updated records reflecting the new IWF Categories!
The IL WSO Board automatically updates the records after each years IL State Championship event. Record setting lifts set at any other event must be submitted to the IL WSO Board record keeper via the button below.
To be eligible for a record:
You must must be a resident of Illinois at the time the record was set
The competition and specific lift(s) must have been contested with the existing weight categories authorized by IWF July 2018.
Results must have been set at a USAW recognized event held by a USAW recognized federation (USAW and IWF). Records set at events of other federations are not eligible.
For results not listed in USAW BARS, the lift result must be verifiable via another source. This mostly applies to records set at International competitions – these results are not always loaded into BARS.
Have a lift you think meets these criteria but is not reflected? Submit your information via this form and we will investigate and update the record once we verify the result.
